Nobody Wants This Season 2 seems to have fallen flat on its face despite the fans’ emotional investment in the story, exciting guest appearances, and the Hot Rabbi’s charm.
The sequel came out on October 23, which excited fans hurried to binge-watch, but the reviews are generally not very positive.
While the first season created a relatable, part-funny, part-charming bond between the main characters, season 2 seems to extend that without any progress in their dynamics or personalities.
Many fans expressed that it seems as if the writers had changed for this season because of the focus on mostly moral lessons in each episode, and lackluster humour, which couldn’t compete with the preceding season.
“Was there a different writer for this season? This season was quite bad compared to the first season,” wrote a fan on Reddit.
Another added, “Season 2 had a really poor storyline with no character growth. Same story arc as season 1. I was hoping to see Joanne convert, their wedding or her move on completely. Season 2 was also missing the funny sister, friend, podcast moments that made the show light. This season felt stiff and serious in comparison.”
Agreeing with the common criticism, a third chimed in, “Feel like there just wasn’t the same heart in it as season 1. Also the writing was definitely not as cohesive, felt really phoned in,” and “Seemed like a filler season to get to season 3,” wrote another.
Viewers also shared their frustration about the short length of the season, writing, “they crammed so much into this SHORT season, that it felt choppy, rushed, and never fleshed out. Stories have arcs - these were not arcs, they just jumped from one character feeling one way to the same character suddenly feeling the opposite within half an episode/one episode max.”
One noted, “Yall they just repeated season 1 with slightly different scenarios. This was disappointing.”
The show is not yet renewed for another season, but it is expected to return for season 3, and perhaps fans will get their complaints answered.
