‘A House of Dynamite’ becomes most talked about thriller for its odd ending
Fans praise 'A House of Dynamite' for being powerful, intense and throughout provoking
Kathryn Bigelow’s new thriller A House of Dynamite has caused mixed reactions from audiences after its release.
Many viewers said the movie’s ending left them confused and unsatisfied.
The story shows the eighteen tense minutes after a nuclear missile is launched toward the United States.
It is told from three points of view, including the White House Situation Room, the United States Strategic Command, and the President himself.
Idris Elba played the President while Rebecca Ferguson appeared as a senior adviser. However, the film keeps the audience guessing whether America will strike back or not.
But the ending never reveals what happens next or who the real enemy is, which has divided opinions online.
Kathryn Bigelow explained her idea in an interview with Tudum, saying the real threat is the global system built to destroy the world within seconds.
She said she wanted the audience to think about what this means for the future. “I want people to leave theatres thinking, what do we do now? We are all living in a house of dynamite.”
While many viewers called the film unfinished, critics gave it mostly positive reviews.
For the unversed, A House of Dynamite holds a seventy nine percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, as reviewers praised it for being powerful, intense and thought provoking despite its mysterious ending.
