Joanna Lumley makes surprising confession about joining ‘Wednesday’

Dame Joanna Lumley made a surprising confession about joining Netflix’s hit series Wednesday.

The 79-year-old actress admitted she had no idea who Wednesday Addams was before she accepted her role in the second season

Joanna revealed that after being cast as Grandmama, Hester Frump, she had to quickly watch an episode to understand the show.

“I didn’t even know Wednesday was the name of the child, so I had to quickly watch an episode of Wednesday,” she told Woman+Home magazine.

"It’s lovely to be part of it, but it would be stupid to say I’ve looked forward to doing this all my life. I’d never even heard of it.”

The acting legend said she was drawn to the series after director Tim Burton called her personally to ask if she wanted to play the grandmother.

However, the star shared that she enjoyed the excitement of not knowing what project would come next. “I can’t stand knowing what I’m going to do next year.

It feels like being trapped. I like the uncertainty of circus life,” she said.

Joanna, who has been acting since the 1960s, admitted she once thought life would slow down with age.

Instead, the Falling for Figaro star found herself busier than ever, filming, traveling, and promoting her projects.

“If I was putting lids on jam pots for eight hours a day, I’d love to retire, but I don’t want to. You keep going if you love it, and I do something I love,” Dame shared, adding she may want “just a little less feast” in the future.
