New Instagram feature lets you revisit previous Reels
Instagram has reportedly rolled out a new highly requested feature that will now let you go back and see your previously watched Reels.
The new Watch History feature allows you to go back and find videos you might not have had the chance to save.
Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in an announcement, “There is a new feature that should help. If you go to ‘Profile’, and under ‘Settings’, under ‘Your Activity’, there’s Watch History now. You can see every reel you’ve ever watched.”
In comparison to TikTok's Watch History, Instagram’s Watch History offers a more flexible option to sort videos in sequential order.
Users were eagerly waiting for the feature, because previously finding lost video required cumbersome workarounds like downloading their data from the application and shifting through the files to manually restore their watch history. The new feature makes that process much simpler.
Meta has been in the development phase of this feature since its launch as a TikTok clone and has been bringing similar functionalities found on platforms like YouTube.
Additionally, Instagram has recently allowed creators to link multiple reels into a series and launched support for Picture-in Picture viewing, both of which are already available on TikTok.
