Robert Pattinson didn’t seem to mind Jennifer Lawrence’s curiosity about his past romance with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart.
During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Lawrence revealed that while filming their upcoming movie Die My Love, she couldn’t resist asking Pattinson about his high-profile breakup with Stewart and the media frenzy that followed.
“If you think I didn’t ask him about Donald Trump tweeting about the breakup with Kristen? I mean, obviously,” joked Lawrence, 35. “It was like three days after the photos came out and Trump was like, ‘He better leave her!’”
The Oscar winner was referring to the 2012 scandal when photos surfaced of Stewart, 35, kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
At the time, Sanders was married to Liberty Ross, who filed for divorce six months later. Stewart publicly apologised to Pattinson for what she called a “momentary indiscretion,” and although the two briefly reconciled, they split for good in 2013.
Still, Lawrence made it clear she wasn’t passing judgment. “Young people make mistakes!” she said, acknowledging that both stars have moved on. Pattinson, now 39, shares a daughter with singer Suki Waterhouse, while Stewart is married to screenwriter Dylan Meyer.
The No Hard Feelings actress also offered a glimpse into her quirky friendship with Pattinson, recalling the time she served him leftovers from her trash after a dinner party. “He comes in, and I give him a hug and he’s like, ‘You have any food? I’m so hungry,’” Lawrence recounted.
“And then he goes to the bathroom, and I do have food, but it’s in the trash. So, while he was in the bathroom, I was pulling food out of my garbage can.”
She added, laughing, “We’re all just watching him eat this trash—and then he says, ‘I’m still hungry,’ and keeps eating.”
