Mia Goth weighed in on her approach towards Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
The Pearl actress, who play Lady Elizabeth Harlander, shared her opinion on how the film is not even close to be considered as a horror movie.
In conversation with the FandomWire, Goth said that she approaches each of her projects by looking at them from their emotional core and humanity within the story.
While talking about Frankenstein, she said, “I didn’t see it as a horror movie in any way.”
She acknowledged that the intensity present in many of her roles, but explains, “That’s just like life.”
Goth explained that while such moments are crucial it doesn’t mean that they are the defining traits of the story.
Goth went on to explain why she doesn’t consider any of her films horror since, “To give a genre to any film is kind of reductive in a way. Same with Frankenstein (the novel).”
She added, “I think to call it simply a science fiction novel is a really reductive term for it.”
In addition to Goth, Frankenstein cast includes, Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Christopher Waltz.
Frankenstein is currently running in theatres till November 7, when it will premiere on Netflix.
