James Gunn Superman after completing its successful theatrical run is now gearing up for the award season.

The DCU is looking forward to earn an Oscar nomination for the hit film.

As per the ScreenRant, the DC studios is set to be pushing Gunn's 2025 entry with David Corenswet in the awards season.

As the FYC (for your consideration) window is open, the Warner Bros. Discovery and DC studios are submitting several movies for Hollywood's biggest award night, including 2025 Superman.

The film has been submitted for a total of 16 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and few more.

If the movie gets selected it would be the first time since Christopher Reeve's 1979 Superman, which was nominated for Best Film Editing, Best Music (Original Score), as well as Best Sound during the 51st Academy Awards.

In addition to Corenswet's film, the studio has also submitted Mickey-17, Sinners, Weapons, One Battle After Another, and A Minecraft Movie for Oscar consideration.

‘Superman’ sequel

With first superhero film grossing more than $615 million at the worldwide box office, Gunn has released plans for its sequel.

Written and directed by Gunn, Man of Tomorrow with Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan reprising their roles, is slated for release on July 9, 2027.
