Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard social media controversy gets heated
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard backlash intensifies over 'insensitive' post drama
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are struggling to control the damage over their controversial post which caught fire on social media.
The 45-year-old actress sparked a heated debate over a joke which seemed “tone-deaf” about the seriousness of domestic violence.
Days later, her husband, 50, and Bell were called out once again for a resurfaced interview from 2012.
During the interview, the Nobody Wants This star and Shepard shared a story from a drive to a promotional event for their movie, Hit and Run.
The Good Place actress was heard saying, “He was so excited. We drove to brunch and the first thing I said, five minutes into the ride, I said, ‘This sounds like it’s gonna break.'”
The actor and podcast host kept a poker face as he replied that he was “very offended,” adding, “And then I hit her several times.”
Bell jokingly added, “And then I got beat up, and guess what — I never opened my mouth again.”
The untasteful joke re-emerged amid the couple’s ongoing controversy which began after Bell’s 12th wedding anniversary caption.
“Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” Bell wrote, sparking backlash from social media users.
