The WandaVision star shared her thoughts on how streaming platforms seem to replace the traditional cinema experience entirely.
In conversation with the InStyle magazine, the Old Boy actress said, "If a movie is made independently and only sells to a streamer, then fine. But I don’t want to make something where [streaming is] the end-all."
She continued, "I think it’s important for people to gather as a community, to see other humans, be together in a space."
Olsen went on to express he love for sport, explaining that it brings people together and unites them through shared excitement.
Commenting on lack of interaction in the industry, Olsen further said, "We don’t even audition in person anymore."
The Golden Globe nominee began her career in 2011 in an independent film Martha Marcy May Marlene. Since then, she has appeared in several major studio productions, including Scarlet Witch in handful of Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
She has also starred in streaming series such as Wanda Vision, Max’s Love & Death and Facebook Watch’s Sorry for Your Loss.
Olsen is currently set to star in upcoming film Eternity, opposite to Miles Teller and Callum Turner.
It is a fantasy romantic-comedy, which is set in afterlife where the recently deceased have one week to decide who to spend all of eternity with.
