Emma Stone is embracing vintage Hollywood glamour with a nostalgic nod to the 1990s.

The 36-year-old Oscar-winning actress was photographed in Midtown Manhattan on October 22, wearing a rare archival Donna Karan ensemble once famously worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in the 1998 romantic drama Great Expectations.

Stone confidently posed on the streets of New York City in a long-sleeved, collared top secured with a single clasp, paired with a matching maxi skirt from Donna Karan’s Spring/Summer 1996 collection.

She completed the look with Manolo Blahnik’s black leather Susa mules, featuring a chic crossover design and a modest kitten heel, retailing for $895.

Paltrow, now 53, first debuted the elegant silk set in Great Expectations, directed by Alfonso Cuarón and written by Mitch Glazer—an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ literary classic.

Ethan Hawke starred opposite Paltrow as Finnegan “Finn” Bell, a young artist captivated by her character, Estella.

In a 2021 Vogue Life In Looks interview, Paltrow reminisced about the timeless outfit. “So, this is Great Expectations. This was a Donna Karan outfit. All of my clothes in that movie were Donna Karan, pretty much,” she said, recalling how the designer told her, “everything in the movie was green.”

Paltrow added that the green-toned wardrobe felt “perfectly nineties, elegant, and perfect for this character.” She laughed, noting that the film’s romantic fountain scene with Hawke was “a career highlight.”

Stone, meanwhile, continues to captivate with her bold fashion choices. Recently, the Poor Things star revealed that she shaved her head for her upcoming role in Bugonia.

Reflecting on the moment, she said, “I’m shaving my head because I get to do what I love... It’s hair.” Stone added, “It was actually one of the greatest experiences of my life—very freeing—and it’s just hair!”
