Jeremy Allen White faced health challenges while portraying legendary singer and guitarist Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.
In a recent interview, The Bear star revealed he suffered from vocal strain while attempting to hit the high notes in Springsteen’s iconic track Born in the U.S.A.
"We kind of got into trying to get closer to Bruce's voice, but then there's certain songs like Born in the U.S.A. where there was nothing that could have prepared me," he recalled.
For the unversed, the 34-year-old actor had limited time for vocal training before portraying the 76-year-old rocker in director Scott Cooper's new biopic, which follows a young Springsteen as he records and releases his 1982 album Nebraska.
Due to the limited time, White was not fully prepared to belt out the rock star's iconic 1984 song when he had to sing it on camera.
"He had years and years of playing in rooms like this and in s----- P.A. systems and really like testing his voice and training, and I didn't have that," he told People. "I didn't have that time, so I needed to shout and that took me out. I remember recording Born in the U.S.A. and losing my voice for a couple days."
Deliver Me From Nowhere, set to hit theatres on October 24, depicts the critical acclaim and success Springsteen found with Nebraska, launching him to global stardom.
