Keri Russell weighs in on beauty standards in Hollywood
‘The Diplomat’ star thinks it’s a ‘weird thing being a woman’ in entertainment industry
American actress Keri Russell has recently shared her honest take on beauty standards in Hollywood.
The American actress has talked about her character in the season three of the Netflix political drama, The Diplomat.
“I’m totally empathetic,” says the 49-year-old actress in a new interview with PEOPLE.
The Felicity star notes, “It’s such a weird thing being a woman,” mainly because everyone has an “opinion about the way you look, the way you dress, the way your hair is”.
Keri opens up that this topic is something she and her friends talk about all the time.
“Plastic surgery is having such a moment right now — men, women, 20-year-olds. I mean, it is around,” she tells the outlet.
August Rush actress mentions that they are “inundated with these movie stars. Even though they might be 50 or 60 years old, they look amazing”.
Keri argues that she watches this show and likes the way she looks on the show, and it’s amazing.
“I feel like that’s strange, like that’s a unique thing to look like that, but it is,” remarks the Waitress actress.
Reflecting on her character on the show, Keri further says, “It’s just the nature of our society. But I also find it really enjoyable, I mean, it’s like a fun thing to play.”
Before concluding, the actress adds, “I like how cranky she is about it, and how she’s always trying to fight people about it, and is rude about it. I love it. I find it delightful.”
Meanwhile, the season three of The Diplomat is currently streaming on Netflix.
