During his appearance at the latest episode of New Heights podcast, hosted by NFL siblings, Jason and Travis Kelce, Johnson looked back at his 25-year-long successful career.

"The very first movie I ever did was a movie called The Mummy Returns. Brendan Fraser was one of the biggest stars in the world, as he is today," he said.

He recalled being "excited at the opportunity" on landing a small role in its sequel the Scorpion King, and praising Fraser for "embracing" him and helping "kick of my career".

"Brendan Fraser, by the way, I always want to make mention of this. He was one of the biggest stars in the world," he shared. "That was his franchise. I am coming in, I have never acted before, I'm excited. He could have easily said, 'I don't know if I want this wrestler.'"

The Mummy Returns franchise became a massive hit which opened doors for Johnson in Hollywood, making him a critically acclaimed actor for years to come.

Recently, Johnson is busy promoting his new film The Smashing Machine, which follows the real life story of MMA fighter Mark Kerr, from his peak in late 1990s to early 2000s through his struggles with addiction and immense career pressure.

The Smashing Machine is now running in theatres.
