Jennifer Lopez has a close relationship with her twins, Max and Emme, but it wasn’t always this way, as the multi-hyphenated star discussed in a new interview.
The 56-year-old actor and singer shares kids, Maximilian "Max" David Muniz and Emme Maribel Muniz, 17, with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, from whom she got divorced in 2014.
Being a single mother, the On The Floor hitmaker had to step up for her kids in more ways than she had expected and a conversation with her kids made her realise that.
J.Lo shared that back in 2020, “They spoke to me, [and] they’re like, ‘You’re not a regular mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop us off and pick us up [like the other parents],' And I realized how much they needed me there."
Speaking to Howard Stern at his SiriusXM show, the Atlas star continued, "it wasn't just about me giving them a great life."
She added that the conversation was a “wake-up call” for her which made her realise the importance of spending time with her kids, and it has now led to them having the best relationship.
"I just was like, 'Okay, you're gonna know — if you didn't know before how much I love you and that you were the main thing in my life — everything I do for you, you're gonna f------ know now,'" Lopez recalled.
The Marry Me actress has always had their kids on the top of her priority list, and after her split with their father, and then Ben Affleck, she tries to be as present for them as possible even if it means holding off work projects.
