Numbers in focus ahead of Afridi seeking trust vote

PESHAWAR: After the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the nominated chief minister, Sohail Afridi, will seek a vote of confidence during the assembly session.
Speaker Babar Saleem Swati had adjourned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session until October 20 but can summon it at any time for the election of the leader of the House.

The provincial assembly has a total of 145 members, and 73 votes are required to elect the leader of the House.
Currently, the government has 92 members, the opposition has 53.
In the assembly, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl has 18 members, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has 16, Pakistan People’s Party has 11, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Inaf Parliamentarians and Awami National Party have three members each.
