'KPop Demon Hunters' singers make their first ever live TV appearance on 'Saturday Night Live'
KPop Demon Hunters was loud enough to shake Studio 8H.
Hosted by Bad Bunny, Saturday Night Live kicked off its 51st season on October 4 with a pop culture bang.
During the premiere episode, a hilarious skit inspired by Netflix's animated sensation, complete with a surprise live performance by the fictional K-pop girl group Huntr/x, was brought to life by Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami.
The sketch followed four friends, played by Bad Bunny, 31, Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, and Chloe Fineman, catching up after time apart.
At one instance the Puerto Rican rapper's character, Thomas, can’t stop fixating on one of the summer’s popular show, passionately insisting it’s not just a movie, but based on a true story
As the skit spirals into absurdity, Bowen Yang appears dressed as demon Jinu, demanding souls and turning Sherman’s character to demonic.
In a moment of chaos, Thomas calls on Huntr/x for salvation and to the audience’s surprise, KPop Demon Hunters singers appear on stage to perform a snippet of Golden, the breakout hit from the film’s soundtrack.
The surprise performance marked the first live TV appearance by the fictional group. Since its June debut, KPop Demon Hunters has smashed Netflix records with over 325 million views, spawned a viral sing-along theatrical event, and topped global music charts.
Additionally, the trio is set to perform the full version of Golden on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, October 7, in their first officially announced televised appearance.
