Dwayne Johnson has recently opened up about his unique method to get into the Mark Kerr role for The Smashing Machine movie.

The wrestler-turned-actor reportedly makes surprising admission about his method acting for playing the role in the Benny Safdie movie, which has already been released in theatres now.

Amongst all these methods, The Rock revealed that he uses song inspiration to get into his character.

“The one song that I used to get into character for Mark Kerr,” began the 53-year-old in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone.

Dwayne mentioned there were many as they had a Smashing Machine playlist.

“But one in particular was – not a super well-known song – from Blaze Foley and it’s called If I Could Only Fly with powerful lyrics,” said the Jungle Cruise actor.

Dwayne noted that the “conceit of those lyrics are: I would love to be anywhere except where I am at, just to be with you”.

“And if I could only fly, I would love to get out of here and come and be with you,” remarked the Black Adam star.

Dwayne noted, “It’s pretty powerful.”

Fans' verdict on 'The Smashing Machine' movie

Meanwhile, The Rock’s new movie is out now and so far, it has received mixed reactions from his fans and reviewers.

Some believe that he killed with his acting, as one wrote on Rotten Tomatoes, “Amazing movie!! The Rock really flexed his acting muscles. He killed it!”

Another said, “Best performance the Rock has ever done.”

“Dwayne Johnson gives his best performance yet.”

“The Rock was Massive. Not just in his size but his performance,” remarked a third one.

However, for some, Dwayne’s acting was “amazing” but they didn’t like the movie.

“The Rock and Emily are phenomenal! But there are some moments that lost me,” mentioned one viewer.

“The Rock is phenomenal. The movie itself was boring and lackluster,” added some other reviewer.
