‘The Crown’ Tobias Menzies set to play major role in ‘Batman Part II’

Tobias Menzies, who played the iconic role of late Prince Phillips in The Crown, is rumoured to be joining the cast of The Batman: Part II.

The highly-anticipated film sequel, for which the fans have been waiting for the past three years, is finally set to begin its filming soon in spring 2026.

According to PopFilm, a new rumour suggested that Menzies is gearing up to play Amadeus Arkham in the sequel.

Amadeus was a prominent member of the Arkham family and the founder of Arkham Asylum. Having created the hospital after the murder of his family, he initially wanted to cure its inmates and treat their mental health. However, he gradually loses his sanity and becomes an inmate at Arkham Asylum.

During the Batman era, Arkham is long dead but his influence looms like a shadow over the prison for the criminally insane.

While the casting is yet to be confirmed, Previously, Reeves in an interview with Variety teased the villain in the upcoming sequel will be a fresher one or atleast with fresher interpretation.

In a conversation with Josh Horowitz during a red carpet he also revealed that the sequel will focus more on Bruce Wayne after "the first is so focused on Batman."

He explained that the angle in which he chose to explore Bruce Wayne with in this film was crucial to his decision on which main villain to feature. Reeves says that the main antagonist that will be in The Batman Part II has “never really been done in a movie before.”

Given Reeves' statement it's likely that Amadeus Arkham will make its big screen debut in The Batman: Part II.

The film is slated for release on October 1, 2027.
