Jessica Chastain’s new Apple TV+ series The Savant will not be making its debut this week as originally planned.

Just three days before the limited series was set to premiere, the streamer confirmed on Tuesday, September 23, that it has decided to delay the release.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone The Savant,” a spokesperson for Apple TV+ told PEOPLE

“We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date.”

Chastain, 48, has not yet addressed the postponement herself.

The series, which Chastain both stars in and executive produces, had been scheduled to launch with two episodes on Friday, September 26, before rolling out weekly installments through November 7.

Alongside Chastain, the cast includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, and Toussaint Francois Battiste, with Pablo Schreiber appearing as a guest star.

The eight-episode drama follows an undercover investigator who infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.

While promoting the project, Chastain reflected on its deeper message and also touched on her own relationship with privacy as a public figure.

“Privacy has always been something that's been very important to me,” she told PEOPLE. She explained that she removed social media from her phone to create distance between her personal life and the online world.

“I have it now on an iPad, so I can, I still have access that I can use it for work, but I definitely want a separation between me and the internet.”

The Oscar winner added that her choice was not only about protecting her private life but also about maintaining balance.

“Not just for privacy sake, but for mental health sake,” she said, noting the addictive nature of social media.

“It’s not as upsetting to me when it’s addictive when it’s, like, cute puppy videos, but when it’s addictive and then it’s leading you to like really, really dark videos.”

For Chastain, boundaries are essential.

“We need a break and we need to figure out how to create a boundary,” she shared, highlighting the importance of finding healthier ways to engage with digital spaces.
