Janet Hubert revisits messy fallout with Will Smith after three decades
Inside Janet Hubert’s ‘ugly’ fallout with Will Smith: ‘I’m at the scene of the crime’
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s original Aunt Vivian actor Janet Hubert is finally opening up about her relationship with Will Smith after a messy feud.
The 69-year-old, who had been embroiled in a feud with the Academy Award winner for more than three decades, joked about returning to “the crime scene.”
During her regal appearance in a recent segment of V-103, Hubert explained how the two actors have come a long way since then.
She clarified, “Back in the day — 35 years ago — this station was the one where [Smith] did that first interview … and dogged me out. I’m at the scene of the crime, so it’s very cathartic for me and very healing for me to be here. We’ve come full circle, everybody.”
In addition, she described their relationship as “good” after their messy fallout back in 1993.
For the unversed, the actress exited the series in 1993 due to “creative differences,” until Smith referred to her as an egotistical person.
His comments took a toll on their professional relationship, leading to a decades-long feud. They reconciled in 2020 after Smith admitted he had made things very difficult for her.
