Ryan Reynolds youngest kid plays crucial part in his career

Ryan Reynolds in counting his blessings twice with his two-year old.

The Green Lantern star, 48, recently appeared at the world premiere of the documentary John Candy: I Like Me at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday, September 4.

Reynolds, during a panel discussion, shared a hilarious story about how his 2-year-old son, Olin, played a crucial role in convincing Bill Murray, 74, to participate in the documentary.

He joked that he "did terrible things to get Bill Murray," including calling him repeatedly on an old cell phone device. However, he ended up getting the voicemail of a Greek shipping company instead of Murray.

Undeterred, the actor left multiple messages until he finally got a call back from Murray. Despite passing a "test" about the "godfather" of the "spit take," Reynolds was eventually "ghosted" by Murray.

As a last time effort, The Croods star revealed he sent Murray a video message, which included his 2-year-old son Olin. In the video, Reynolds asked Olin to tell Bill Murray to do the interview, and the toddler looked directly at the camera and said, "Do the interview, Bill."

He added, "Say no to a kid like that, then we'll know what kind of a monster you are."

To his surprise, Murray called back shortly after and agreed to participate in the documentary.

Elsewhere in the conversation Reynolds, who produced the documentary with Colin Hanks, son of Tom Hanks, said that John Candy's work and legacy have had a significant impact on his own career.

"When you hear the name John Candy, your face lights up. He wasn’t just a great actor; he was an even better person," Reynolds and Hanks said in a statement about the movie.

The documentary John Candy: I Like Me premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, which runs from September 4-14.
