Jacob Elordi, Margot Robbie face seething criticism after new trailer
'Wuthering Heights' trailer shocks fans with new take on the book
Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi was an unlikely pairing but they appeared to be a match made in heaven in the newly released trailer of Wuthering Heights.
The upcoming film, set to be released on February 13, 2026, is Emerald Fennell’s take on the 1847 novel of the same name by Emily Bronte.
The Euphoria star, 28, and the Barbie actress, 35, will be bringing one of the beloved fictional couples to life – that of Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff.
The trailer showed Robbie’s character fantasising about her childhood lover, and Elordi’s character as Charli XCX’s Everything is Romantic plays in the background.
However, fans were not satisfied with the modern take on the classic story and expressed their anger on social media.
“I didn’t know Wuthering Heights was the fourth installment in the 50 Shades of Gray franchise!,” wrote a fan in YouTube comments.
Another noted, “We can now affirmed that this movie only has the title Wuthering Heights due marketing strategies.”
A third cried out, “yayyyy ruin my favorite book why don’t ya!!!!! love!!! so excited!!!”
While another claimed, “Someone needs to apologise to Emily Brontë.”
