New 'James Bond' actor revealed

The new James Bond has finally been revealed, but it's not what longtime fans of the franchise might have expected.

Patrick Gibson is stepping into the role of 007 not on screen, but behind the mic as the voice of James Bond in IO Interactive and Amazon’s upcoming video game, 007: First Light.

At the September 2025 State of Play event, 007: First Light was unveiled, featuring the Dexter: Original Sin star as a young James Bond.

The game serves as an origin story following Bond’s early, reckless days as a recruit in MI6’s training program, long before he became the iconic spy.

In addition to Gibson, 30, more actors who will be voicing other characters are Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Kiera Lester (Moneypenny), Lennie James (Greenway), Noémie Nakai (Ms. Roth) and Priyanga Burford (M).

007 First Light video game is set to be released on March 27, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2.

It is pertinent to note that while the video game has found its James Bond, the live-action films have yet to confirm anyone following Daniel Craig’s exit after No Time to Die.

There’s been speculation around actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, and others but no casting has been finalised as of yet.

Since the James Bond film franchise began in 1962, several actors have taken on the iconic role of 007. Starting with Sean Connery, George Lazenby later stepped in for one film before Roger Moore took over.

Then Timothy Dalton offered a darker take in the late '80s, followed by Pierce Brosnan, and most recently Craig redefined the character with a gritty, emotional edge in five films.
