Channing Tatum admits blowing up his audition for 'Thor'
Channing Tatum reveals invaluable lesson he learned from Kenneth Branagh
Channing Tatum, who stars as Gambit in Deadpool and Wolverine, once stepped out to give an audition for Thor.
The Magic Mike star shared details of bombing his audition to play the God of Thunder in Kenneth Branagh’s 2011 superhero movie.
In an interview with Variety, Tatum admitted, "I didn’t really want to be Thor. But I wanted to audition in front of Kenneth Branagh."
"After I did one take, [Branagh] was like, 'You’re not allowed to move. Put your hands on this chair.’ And I froze," he explained. "I spent the next five years really trying to learn stillness."
Eventually Chris Hemsworth got the part of Thor, with Tatum later on to develop a Gambit movie at 20th Century Fox studio.
Gambit was always Tatum’s passion, however it went through many ups and downs. It was once dated for an October 2016 release before the project was delayed.
Previously, the actor told the outlet that he ended up being "traumatized" after spending years trying to make a Gambit movie only for the project to be axed.
Fortunately, he finally got the chance to play the character on big screen in Marvel’s Deadpool and Wolverine.
Now in a full circle moment, Tatum’s Gambit and Hemsworth’s Thor are coming together in Marvel’s much awaited film, Avengers: Doomsday.
The film is set for release on December 18, 2026.
