Sony PlayStation Network hit by massive disruptions globally
The PlayStation Network rocked by global outage, leaving thousands of gamers affected
Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) faced massive disruptions on Wednesday, worldwide, leaving thousands of users unable to access gaming services.
As reported by Down Detector, more than 10,930 gamers around the world have complained about the glitches. Within no time, the complaints rose quickly about connectivity, login failure, and platform disruptions.
Around 88 percent of complaints involved server connectivity, 7 percent users talked about login issues and 5 percent reported gameplay disruptions.
The recent outage has locked the gaming community out of the PSN server, leaving them unable to connect to online multiplayer modes across popular games.
Besides server disruptions, the gamers also faced difficulties in accessing messaging features, friend lists, party chats and other communication channels.
The spike in user-reported issues began around 6:20 ET. The users' complaints have taken the internet by storm who tagged Sony’s official X account to express their predicaments.
Despite the users’ plights, until now PlayStation has not addressed the issue on any official account.
The global outage is not the first of its kind. Earlier in February 2025, PSN also experienced global disruption which lasted for 24 hours, marking one of the longest outages.
In 2011, Sony’s PSN also suffered a cyberattack, leaving services online for 23 days. The attack also breached 77 million users’ sensitive data and privacy. Consequently, Sony offered PlayStation Plus membership in compensation.
