Domhnall Gleeson opened up about experiencing a shocking incident on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Gleeson, who played Bill Weasley in the film series, recalled messing up with English accent on his first day.
In an appearance at the Late Night Show with Seth Meyers to promote his new TV series, The Paper, the Irish actor shared how his accent went completely off the rails during the first few scenes.
"My first day on set, I was meant to be doing an English accent," he explained to the host. "They’d all been doing it, I was in the seventh and eighth movies, only a small part. And… I went Australian. And I couldn’t stop."
The Fountain of Youth star was unable to control it so much so, that the director of the last two films, David Yates had to step in.
"I went Australian on the first take and there was like 300 people on set and the director was there like, 'Cut!' And this weird, long pause," he recalled. "And then the director came over and he was like, 'So you’ve gone Australian. Is there anything you can do about it?'"
However, Gleeson told Yates that he could not help it, saying, "I think this is what we're doing."
Gleeson continued, "It was shocking. It was one of the worst days of my life. And then things got a little bit better. And so I hope my American accent in this [The Paper] is better, but you tell me!"
In the film his character, a curse-breaker for Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Egypt returned to help Harry Potter (Danielle Radcliff) and Order of the Phoenix in fight against Voldemort.
His character is yet to be cast in the upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation.
Meanwhile, Gleeson's newest sitcom The Paper, which is spin-off of The Office, is renewed for season two ahead of its September 4 debut.
