Bear taken to hospital after eating too much fruit
After complete treatment, Okan was sent back to the zoo
A three-year-old bear named Okan from Turkiye was recently taken to hospital after falling ill from eating too much fruit at an Istanbul zoo.
The 300-kilogram bear over-ate and was taken to Istanbul University’s Cerrahpasa Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, where an MRI scan was performed to diagnose the issue.
It was revealed that the fruits affected its stomach and after complete treatment, the bear was sent back to the zoo.
Apparently, Okan’s overeating habits aren’t new as he also had an MRI three years ago, when he was taken to hospital for a similar issue.
Moments of the bear’s treatment were shared on social media and the netizens added humor to the health emergency.
One netizen wrote, “Same like my friend when he gets a chance to eat a free buffet.” Another chimed in, “Bro is suffering from the success of eating too much.”
A third one expressed, “We all have done it at some point.”
Others expressed concerns regarding Okan’s health, wishing it a speedy recovery as one wrote, “I hope he is ok, but why is this so cute,” another assured all the worrying bear-lovers, writing, “For anyone else curious, I looked him up and he’s doing well now.”
Turkiye is home to the largest brown bear population in the world and they have been protected legally since 2003. An estimated 3,000 bears live in Turkiye.
