'Get Smart' star David Ketchum dies at 97
Late goofy comic actor and prolific TV writer David Ketchum is best known for his role as Agent 13 in 'Get Smart'
David Ketchum, best known for his Get Smart role, has passed away at the age of 97.
The actor, who could squeeze into spaces like vending machines, trash cans and even airport lockers as Agent 13 on the fabled sitcom, breathed his last on Sunday, August 10.
His daughter Nicole Madden told The Hollywood Reporter that David died in a care facility in Thousand Oaks, California earlier this month.
The late goofy comic actor and prolific TV writer got his first writing credit on a 1967 episode of Garry Marshall‘s Hey, Landlord.
Since then, he continued to write for nearly four dozen shows, including Marshall series like Full House, Happy Days, Here’s Lucy, Highway to Heaven, Laverne & Shirley, MAS*H, MacGyver, and Wonder Woman.
In addition to his most famous role as Agent 13, David also played carpenter Mel Warshaw opposite John Astin and Marty Ingalls on the ABC sitcom I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster which aired from 1962 to 63.
He also starred as Counselor Spiffy on the 1965-66 NBC comedy Camp Runamuck.
David returned as Agent 13 in the 1989 telefilm Get Smart, Again and on an episode of a rebooted Get Smart in 1995.
He boasts the following TV acting credits under his belt: Alice, Gomer Pyle, Good Morning World, Green Acres, Happy Days, Mod Squad, That Girl, The Munsters, The Odd Couple, and The Real McCoys among others.
