'Avengers' star joins Henry Cavill in 'Highlander' remake
Henry Cavill will lead the cast, which includes Russell Crowe, Dave Bautista, and Marisa Abela
Highlander remake casting is getting more exciting with one Avengers star joining the stellar lineup.
It has been reported that Karen Gillan is the new addition in the sword-swinging cast of the Amazon MGM’s remake of the 1980s cult classic.
The already announced cast includes Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Russell Crowe with Henry Cavill leading the ensemble.
In the upcoming remake, the newly announced cast member, the Guardians of the Galaxy star will play Heather, MacLeod’s mortal wife and the love of his life.
As for the others, Cavil, most famous for portraying Superman in the DC Extended Universe, beginning with Man of Steel is playing MacLeod while Bautista is the savage warrior named The Kurgen.
Crowe is Ramirez and Industry actress Marisa Abela will be featured in a leading role.
Highlander marked Gillan's third popular franchise under her belt to boast about. Her impressive resume includes tole of cybernetic alien Nebula in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers series.
She also starred in Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level with a third on the way.
Highlander, which hails from Amazon MGM’s United Artists banner, is being helmed by director Chad Stahelski and is slated for a theatrical release.
