Jason Isaacs hopes Johnny Flynn bring fresh look to Lucius Malfoy
Jason Isaacs looks forward to Johnny Flynn adding charm to new Lucius Malfoy
Jason Isaacs, who formerly played the role of antagonist Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter film series, is sure that Johnny Flynn will pave his own path as the new Lucius Malfoy.
Flynn is set to take over the role of evil Malfoy patriarch in upcoming HBO TV series.
In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Isaacs said that he can't wait to see how Flynn gives life to the character.
"Johnny will do his own thing. Maybe he’ll be more charming," he said. "I doubt that he'll look like me, because that was the look I came up with and he's far too original to want to copy anything."
Isaac and Flynn has previously co-starred in 2021 war drama Operation Mincemeat. When asked if Flynn had reached out to him for tips on playing the role, Isaacs remained quite saying that he did texted him when he landed the role.
"He's absolutely delightful and phenomenally talented, and I have no doubt he's going to do something completely different from what I did because I did my own thing," Isaacs said.
The White Lotus star went on to share the behind-the- scenes of the drama set. He revealed that everything is being made from the scratch including "redesigning Hogwarts and the costumes."
In addition to Flynn, the new Harry Potter TV series cast includes Dominic McLaughlin as the titular boy wizard, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape and many more.
The Harry Potter series is set to premiere somewhere in 2027.
