ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Senate elections amid intense political speculation.
Speaking after filing his papers, Rana Sanaullah said he would accept any responsibility entrusted to him by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. “Whatever responsibility the party gives me, I will fulfill it. Mian Nawaz Sharif’s trust is an honour for me,” he added.
Rana Sanaullah, who currently serves as president of PMLN Punjab, has been nominated for the Senate by party head and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. He previously held the portfolio of Federal Interior Minister in the PDM coalition government and is regarded as a close confidant of Nawaz Sharif.
If elected, Rana Sanaullah will serve as senator until March 2027. Polling for the Senate elections is scheduled for September 9.
