Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock dies after secret cancer battle
Kelly Clarkson cancels shows after ex-husband Brandon Blackstock dies at 48
Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock died at the age of 48 after silently battling with cancer for over three years.
The news of his passing came just days after the music icon postponed several concerts to care for their two children.
Brandon was the father of Kelly’s daughter River, 11, and son Remington, 9. The pair have been married for seven years before splitting in 2020.
The former couple first met in 2012 and tied the knot in 2013. However, Brandon also worked as Kelly’s manager during their marriage.
He was the son of Narvel Blackstock, who had previously managed Kelly’s career.
Fans were surprised when Kelly recently pulled out of her Las Vegas performances. At the time, she told her followers that her children's father is unwell and that she needed to be there for her family.
The heartbreaking news followed shortly after.
A representative for Kelly released a statement to People, confirming Brandon’s death. The message read, “It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.”
Earlier this week, the Where Have You Been singer also cancelled a show in Los Angeles just to be with her children.
She said, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”
Furthermore, fans from all over the world have been sending support and prayers to Kelly and her family during this painful time.
