Sydney Sweeney’s brother responds to heated ongoing controversy
Sydney Sweeney’s brother Trent jumps to defend actress amid backlash
Sydney Sweeney’s brother, Trent Sweeney, broke silence on the actress’ recent backlash all over social media.
The 27-year-old actress, who sparked the fury of fans with her American Eagle campaign, is being called out for racist and white supremist beliefs, but her brother played it off as a joke.
The Euphoria star’s brother took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 6, and made a joke about the controversy while celebrating his recent promotion in the U.S. Air Force.
“It’s them good jeans,” he quipped, as he shared a picture of his certificate of promotion to staff sergeant.
The backlash started soon after the Anything But You actress’ jeans ad went viral, which seemingly played on the words “genes” and “jeans.”
Sydney claiming to have “great jeans” in the ad indicated the supremacy of white genes over others, as she said, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,” in one of the promo videos.
While the brand has defended the actress, Sydney herself has remained silent, with an insider telling Us Weekly, “Sydney thinks this whole thing has been blown out of proportion,” the insider exclusively revealed. “She’s focusing her energy on work, including being back on set with her Euphoria family.”
