Jeff Bezos' growing connections with Hollywood actress and film producer Sydney Sweeney is seemingly driving a wedge between the billionaire and his new bride, Lauren Sanchez.
Initially, despite not being close to the couple, the Euphoria star’s presence at their lavish wedding in Venice raised eyebrows.
Later it was reported that she attended the multi-day celebrations in Italy to "pay respects to the boss," a nod to Sweeney’s role as an executive producer on an upcoming Amazon MGM project called Split Fiction.
However, it wasn’t the guest list that ruffled feathers, the real tension reportedly began when Sánchez realised just how deeply involved Bezos is with the Anyone But You actress.
Notably, the 27-year-old actress is also preparing to launch her own lingerie line, backed by major financial support from Bezos, Sanchez, and the private equity firm Coatue (which itself benefits from investments by Bezos and Michael Dell).
"There’s definitely some tension," a source told Shuter. "Lauren didn’t realize just how involved Jeff was in this. It’s… awkward."
Now, in the wake of swirling rumours, the CEO of Amazon and his wife are facing whispers of trouble in paradise with divorce speculation surfacing just weeks after their lavish billion-dollar wedding.
Their newlywed bliss appears to have fizzled amid reports of Bezos’ $1 billion investment in Sweeney’s upcoming lingerie brand.
According to The List, this high-stakes business partnership, combined with Sweeney’s rising influence, is only fueling speculation that cracks are forming in Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s marriage.
While Sweeney is already making waves for her political ties and rumoured role in Amazon MGM’s upcoming James Bond reboot, she seems to be fully stepping into her "business era" unfazed by the fallout that may be hitting closer to home for Bezos.
