Rupert Everett has recently made shocking confession about getting fired from Emily in Paris.

My Best Friend’s Wedding star, who made his debut as Italian fashion designer Giorgio Barbieri in season 4 of the hit Netflix series, revealed that he won’t return to the upcoming show.

“I was fired,” claimed the 66-year-old in a new interview with Vanity Fair.

Rupert recalled he did a scene in the latest season, and they told him, “Next year we’ll speak.’ I waited for them to call me — but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me”.

“Show business is always very difficult, from the beginning to the end,” mentioned the Shrek 2 star.

Rupert noted, “When they write the screenplay, they think they want you — but then things change, and they lose your character.”

“I don’t know why. For me, it was a tragedy. I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn’t get over it,” stated the Happy Prince actor.

However, a source close to the production told Vanity Fair that Rupert had been hired to play the role as guest cameo and now his character’s story line had come “to a conclusion”.

Rupert is not the one who has left the Emily show, other star Camille Razat, who played Emily's friend and occasional romantic rival Camille in the first four seasons, announced in April that she bid goodbye to the show.

Camille thanked series creator Darren Star, Netflix and Paramount for “giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily in Paris world”.

Meanwhile, Darren lately spoke to Deadline and offered an update on the upcoming episodes, adding, “I think we have got a really terrific season coming up.”
