Adam Sandler's 'Happy Gilmore 2' scores big on Netflix

Adam Sandler's latest comedy film, Happy Gilmore 2, has become Netflix's biggest opening weekend ever in the U.S., with 46.7 million views in just three days.

The film, which was released on July 25, has topped the Netflix Top 10 chart for the week of July 21 to 27, making it the number one English-language film on the platform.

Happy Gilmore 2 is not only Sandler's most successful Netflix release yet, but it's also the best debut for any Netflix movie in the U.S. so far.

The film's success has also brought renewed attention to the original Happy Gilmore, which shot back into Netflix's global Top 10 list with 11.4 million views.

The new movie picks up decades after the first film, with Happy Gilmore retired from golf and struggling with his life. When his daughter needs money for a pricey ballet school in Paris, Happy grabs his golf clubs and gets back into the game.

The film features a star-studded cast, including Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Benny Safdie, Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, and Sandler's own family members.

The movie is full of surprise cameos, with appearances from real PGA stars Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, Hot Ones host Sean Evans, and Guy Fieri from the Food Network

The film's success has been well-received by fans and critics alike, with the original Happy Gilmore holding a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
