Jeremy Renner says he’s ready to suit up again as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and fans have reason to be hopeful.
In a recent chat with Empire, the actor shared his enthusiasm about returning to the superhero world, revealing he’s physically and mentally prepared for whatever Marvel has in store, whether it’s a second season of Hawkeye or something bigger on the big screen.
“I’m always happy to be in that world, man. I love all those guys, I love the character,” Renner said.
His comments reflect not just loyalty to the franchise but a genuine excitement to step back into the role.
He added, “I’m sure we’ll end up doing Season 2 [of Hawkeye], and do other things. And I’m happy to do it.
My body’s getting ready for something like that. I don’t know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights.”
The actor's enthusiasm comes more than a year after his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023, which left him with multiple severe injuries, including more than 30 broken bones.
Despite the trauma, Renner says he’s now stronger than ever.
“Having health and wellness be such a central part of my life, that’s what’s gotten me back,” he shared. “And even as I age, I just feel stronger than I’ve been.”
Although he admits to some physical limitations, like tendon and flexibility issues, Renner is determined and proud of the progress he’s made. “I spent a lot of time on getting better and stronger, and I wouldn’t if I didn’t get crushed.”
Earlier this year, Renner also opened up about a potential return to Hawkeye and the challenges around negotiations. Marvel reportedly offered him “half” of his original salary for a second season, something Renner questioned.
“I’m like, ‘I’m sorry? Why? Did you think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got ran over? Maybe that’s why you want to pay me half of what I made on the first season.’”
Whether or not the pay dispute resolves, Renner’s commitment to Hawkeye and the MCU seems rock solid, and his fans are surely ready to welcome him back.
