Happy Gilmore 2 came out swinging on Netflix and grabbed the top spot without a fight.
The sequel pulled in 46.7 million views in its first week, making it the second biggest movie launch of 2025. The only film to open bigger this year was Back in Action, which already sits on Netflix’s all‑time top ten list.
The flick brought Adam Sandler back as the loud and fiery golfer fans first loved decades ago.
However, it was packed with fun cameos and a lively soundtrack that gave the film the same feel as the original which helped bring old fans and new wave of fans.
With such a strong start, Happy Gilmore 2 is now being tipped as the next movie that could break into Netflix’s biggest hits of all time.
The new cast featured familiar faces including Ben Stiller, 58, Christopher McDonald, 70, and Julie Bowen, 54. They were joined by newcomers like NFL player Travis Kelce, 34, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, 30, and a group of professional golfers.
For the unversed, Sandler found a very touching way to include the late actor Cameron Boyce in his new comedy.
In one brief but emotional moment, the iconic comedy star's character Happy checks in at a golf course while staff members watch a TV show in the background.
The show featured Cameron and fans immediately recognized it as Jessie.
