Glen Powell sets record straight on playing superhero character
Hollywood actor opens up about his turning down new ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ movie role
Glen Powell has recently set the record straight on superhero movies as he reflects on turning down Jurassic World Rebirth movie.
The actor, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming The Running Man movie, spoke to Empire Magazine and explained why he rejected Jurassic World Rebirth role.
Glen admitted he didn’t relate with his character in the new Jurassic movie and shared he preferred to play more “ordinary” guys.
“I just don’t identify with people with superpowers for the most part,” said the 36-year-old.
Top Gun actor noted that he likes “the ordinary guy against extraordinary odds”.
“The entire world is hunting this man, trying to kill him. Can he survive? Can he save his family? That’s a great, simple story,” pointed out Glen.
Sharing real reason behind rejecting Jurassic role, the Hit Man actor mentioned, “Sometimes you’ve got to close your eyes and put yourself in that movie, and you’re like, ‘No, I would not be good in this movie.’”
“There’s somebody better that’s gonna breathe more life into this, or can do a better job than I can,” continued Glen.
Meanwhile, the Twisters actor added, “You just have to be realistic about that. Sometimes you put yourself out of a job, but that’s okay.”
For the unversed, Glen was almost cast in Oppenheimer before Josh Harnett got the part.
Similarly, the actor also failed both auditions which he did for the roles in Captain America: The First Avenger and Solo.
“There's definitely a bit of a game [to the whole thing],” he noted.
Before concluding, Glen added, “I still believe that the best guy doesn't necessarily get the job. You can't just be good – you also have to be very lucky.”
