Netflix has revealed a first look at its highly anticipated Pride and Prejudice limited series, based on Jane Austen's timeless 1813 novel.
The production, set to begin in the UK, boasts an impressive cast, including Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy, and Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet.
The series has assembled a talented ensemble, featuring a range of familiar faces from the world of television and film.
Rufus Sewell, known for his role in The Diplomat, takes on the role of Mr Bennet, the patriarch of the Bennet family. Freya Mavor, star of Industry, plays Jane Bennet, the eldest Bennet sister, while Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery make their debuts as Mary Bennet and Kitty Bennet, respectively. Rhea Norwood portrays the scandalous Lydia Bennet.
The love interests are played by Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley, and Louis Partridge as Mr Wickham.
Other key characters include Lady Catherine de Bourg, played by Fiona Shaw, and Mr Collins, portrayed by Jamie Demetriou. Siena Kelly plays the snobbish Caroline Bingley.
The six-part limited series is written by Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn, known for his work on Heartstopper.
Alderton expressed her excitement, saying, "Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s 'Pride and Prejudice' is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life."
The series is expected to premiere on Netflix in late 2025 or early 2026, with production currently underway in the UK.
