Liam Neeson avoids mimicking late actor Leslie Nielsen in 'The Naked Gun'
Leslie Nielsen played Frank Drebin in the original movies
Liam Neeson, who played Frank Drebin Jr in the reboot version of The Naked Gun franchise, has made a rare comment about his role in the film.
The 73-year-old has led the 2025 movie directed by Akiva Schaffer.
In a recent interview, the Taken famed actor confessed that he was determined to avoid falling into the trap of mimicking late actor Leslie Nielsen, who played Frank Debin in the original film series.
Neeson was conscious of his own performance in the movie. He admitted going to the director after wrapping up the shoot just to know if he did well.
He told Empire, "I wouldn't say nerve-wracking, but every day I would go up to Akiva (Schaffer, director) after we wrapped and say, 'How was it?' Because I just didn't know.
The A-Team actor did not want to emulate the wonderful Leslie Nielsen.
“But the only thing I grabbed from him, was, 'Be serious. Don't try to be funny. Just stick to being a serious cop who is a bit of a doofus”, said Liam.
The Naked Gun also features Pamela Anderson along with Neeson.
