Marvel Cinematic Universe unveils new commander of Avengers
Marvel Cinematic Universe confirmed surprising new leader for Avengers
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has revealed who will be the next in-command of all the Avengers after Chris Evans' Steve Rogers (Captain America).
With Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts successful run, the attention is now focused on upcoming The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday.
In an interview with Variety, MCU director Matt Shakman revealed Pedro Pascal's Fantastic Four's character, Reed Richards as the leader of Avengers.
The reason Reed was chose as the new frontman was because of his evolution from scientist and husband to a loving father.
The director also talked about Reed's challenging arc, saying, "He goes from being the nerdy scientist who’s locked away in the lab, to the husband and the father who'd do anything to protect his family, to the guy who’s leading the Avengers."
"I realized that the version we were building had to have all of those elements," he added.
While Pascal didn't address the Avengers aspect of his new role, he did say that being able to team up with Shakman on a project like this felt "fated in the stars."
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to release on July 25.
