Johnny Depp finally breaks silence on ‘Fantastic Beasts’ recasting
Johnny Depp gets candid about being dropped from ‘Fantastic Beasts’ amid personal chaos
Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has finally broken silence on Fantastic Beasts recasting.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star, who played Gellert Grindelwald in the series’ first two movies, spoke up five years after he was asked to resign from the franchise by Warner Bros.
Earlier in 2022, Johnny was going to reprise his role as Gellert in the franchise’s final movie, The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022).
However, the Edward Scissorhands actor was asked to resign in November 2020 because of his libel battle with News Group Newspapers over allegations of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
In a latest interview with The Telegraph, Johnny revealed that he felt “shunned, dumped, [and] cancelled” in the aftermath of the trial.
“It literally stopped in a millisecond,” said the 62-year-old.
The Charlie And the Chocolate Factory actor mentioned, “Like, while I was doing the movie. They said we’d like you to resign. But what was really in my head was they wanted me to retire.”
“There’s far too many of me to kill. If you think you can hurt me more than I’ve already been hurt you’re gravely mistaken,” added Johnny.
The actor recalled he already filmed a scene for the third Fantastic Beasts movie and later he was replaced by Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen.
It is pertinent to mention that Johnny made his first directorial appearance in 20 years on Modìgliani: Three Days on the Wing of Madness.
Meanwhile, Johnny directed movie will release in cinemas on Friday, July 11.
