David Corenswet admitted that he almost gave up on the role of the red-caped DC hero, Superman.

Despite the DC character Clark Kent/ Superman being one of Hollywood’s most in-demand franchise role, Corenswet revealed that he did some thinking before taking on the iconic part.

"A role like Superman seems like something that everybody would want, and that’s not true," he said in GQ cover story.

"There are some people who wouldn’t want that role and who would, if given the opportunity, say no. I am obviously not one of those people. But I certainly tried to think of reasons not to," Corenswet added.

The Twister star went on gush about the character, "Ultimately, what I landed on for myself was, if this is the only role I get to play for the rest of my life, and that means whether I get to play it once or get to play it 10 times, would I still say yes? And the answer was yes."

Elsewhere in the interview, the 32-year-old actor also shared what fans can except from the reboot version of the titular hero.

He confirmed that the team aimed at delivering the "truest and therefore most interesting" shades of Superman, "the things that set him apart from other heroes."

Corenswet further explained how Clark Kent was brought up in a loving household with great parents in comparison to Batman who lost his parents in childhood and had the burden of protecting a city.

The new Superman film is set to release on July 11.
