Scarlett Johansson makes history as highest-grossing Hollywood star

Scarlett Johansson has cemented her place as the highest-grossing lead actor in Hollywood, thanks to the massive success of her latest film, Jurassic World Rebirth. 

The movie raked in over $318 million globally in its opening weekend, catapulting Johansson to the top of the list with a total box office gross of $14.8 billion throughout her career.

The Fly Me To The Moon star has surpassed her Marvel co-stars Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Downey Jr., who trail behind her in second and third place, respectively. 

Her lifetime box office gross stands at $14.6 billion, while Downey Jr.'s totals $14.3 billion. Notably, Johansson achieves this feat with fewer movies to her name, having starred in 36 films compared to Jackson's 71 and Downey Jr.'s 45.

Johansson's success can be attributed to her iconic roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, particularly as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in Avengers: Endgame, which grossed $2.7 billion, and Avengers: Infinity War, which earned $2 billion. 

Her other notable hits include The Jungle Book ($951 million), Sing ($631 million), and Lucy ($457 million).

At 40, the actress remains one of Hollywood's most in-demand stars, with a career that still has plenty of room to grow. 

Jurassic World Rebirth is expected to continue its massive run, further solidifying Johansson's position as the highest-grossing lead actor in Hollywood.
