David Corenswet clarifies his controversial comment on Henry Cavill’s ‘Man of Steel’
James Gunn's 'Superman' is all set to release on July 11
David Corenswet, who is all set to headline his very own Superman movie, once made a rare comment on Henry Cavill’s depiction of the Man of Steel.
In a previous interview, the 31-year-old actor called Cavill’s portrayal as “dark and gritty.”
During a chat with Entertainment Weekly in 2019, David said, "I would love to see somebody do an upbeat, throwback [take on Superman].”
“I love the Henry Cavill dark and gritty take, but I would love to see the next one be very bright and optimistic."
Now he has elaborated his old comment in a latest interview, explaining what he meant.
“I think that’s the least interesting thing I could have said", he told GQ.
Corenswet explained that a character like Superman require great writers and artists to explore all possibilities, and they become boring if “you just keep doing the same thing over and over again.
“And so, just like Chris Nolan took Batman and did something darker and more grounded with the character, Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill explored a side of Superman that hadn’t been explored on the big screen.”
He continued, “So, all I was saying was they’re doing it so well. Whenever they’re finished, I’d love to see the next one go the other way, and let’s see the other side.”
