Anne Hathaway on playing a pop star for the first time in ‘Mother Mary’
Hollywood beauty Anne Hathaway talks about her role preparation for the upcoming movie
Anne Hathaway has recently revealed she’s playing a pop star for the first time in her upcoming movie, Mother Mary.
The Oscar-winning actress reflected on her intense preparation for the role which she never did it before in her acting career.
Anne pointed out that she was not good at singing, but she pushed herself to make it happen.
“I had to submit to being a beginner,” said the 42-year-old in a new interview with Vogue magazine.
The Devil Wears Prada actress explained, “The humility of that showing up every day knowing you're going to suck. And it has to be okay. You're not 'bad.' You're just a beginner.”
Anne opened up that she had to learn and unlearn few things during the process to “get to that mindset”.
“I had to shed some things that were hard to shed. It was welcome. But it was hard, the way transformational experiences can be hard,” pointed out the Interstellar actress.
Elsewhere in the interview, Anne mentioned that it was the most challenging role mainly because the music was not finalised before the filming started.
“It was so confusing. I had to learn…. Because if I'd had the music a year before we ever turned a camera on, I would have tattooed every note of it on my soul,” admitted the Princess Diaries alum.
Meanwhile, Anne reflected on her working experience with music producer Jack Antonoff as well as pop icon Charli XCX.
“I finally learned how to breathe. My body was so locked up—I literally couldn’t take a deep breath,” she remarked.
The Idea of You actress added, “I’d been trying to open that space for years and I thought it was physically impossible. All my breath, it was stuck.”
Meanwhile, Anne had also learned to dance for the role in the last two years.
