‘Full House’ alum talks about certain fads that are reshaping people’s views on body image
Candace Cameron Bure has recently shared her honest take on weight-loss trends in Hollywood.
In a latest interview with Fox News Digital, the Fuller House star, who released a new devotional last week, reflected on the “scary” way certain trends are reshaping people’s views on body image in Hollywood.
“It can be scary, although I feel like this younger generation has already had so much more body positivity that I hope they understand that it's a trend,” said the 49-year-old.
Candace told the outlet, “I think of my daughter, and she just doesn't have the same viewpoint of body image that I did growing up, and especially as a child of the ‘80s and ’90s.”
“It's like mine's all messed up. I am middle-aged, and I still have all of these thoughts as to the perfect body and this and that, and it's troubling,” explained the Growing Pains actress.
Candace further said that her daughter and her friends “don't think about bodies like that”.
Therefore, the actress “hopes they do understand that it's a trend”.
However, Candace confessed that it “does freak me out”.
“It makes me sad to see everyone suddenly becoming skinny because I think it's very triggering for a lot of people our age that grew up in the ‘80s and ’90s,” pointed out the Finding Normal star.
Elsewhere in the interview, Candace also discussed the use of weight-loss drugs including Ozempic and Mounjaro.
The actress noted that it’s important “to understand the ‘why’ behind people's decisions to use them”.
“I don't say this to just be a broad brush and be neutral when I say that you really do need to do what works for you,” noted Candace.
