'The Old Guard 2' director gushes over 'Mission: Impossible 8' creator

The Old Guard 2 creator Victoria Mahoney has shared a rare insight about her connection with filmmaker, Christopher McQuarrie.

According to the American actress and filmmaker, the Mission: Impossible 8 has had a great influence on her especially in the making of action movies.

Victoria’s new film featuring Charlize Theron is filled with action sequences and is quite entertaining.

While talking about the film, the director revealed that her "dear friend McQ", who is a frequent collaborator with Tom Cruise, has been a great inspiration in making an action-packed film.

She told The Hollywood Reporter, “What McQ did for me — by way of our geeky spitball discussions that are endless year upon year — is [making sure] you preserve the emotionality in action as much as any other aspect of the drama surrounding the action.”

Mahoney further shared what she really likes about action movies.

“One of the things I enjoy most about action-drama is having a little bit of drama buck right up against action and have them both stand on their own”, she revealed.

Theron starrer is a sequel to the 2020 film of the same name also starring KiKi Layne, Veronica Ngo, Henry Golding and Uma Thurman.
