Alyson Stoner's upcoming memoir promises candid look at life as child actor
Taylor Lautner, 33, recently shared a nostalgic video on Instagram featuring a scene from the 2005 film Cheaper by the Dozen 2, where he starred alongside Alyson Stoner, 31.
In the clip, Lautner's character, Elliot Murtaugh, puts his arm around Stoner's character, Sarah Baker, during a movie date, prompting their on-screen dads, played by Steve Martin and Eugene Levy, to react with mock horror.
Lautner playfully recreated the scene with his wife, Tay, by putting his arm around her as she sat beside him on a lawn chair.
Captioning the post "The move still works 20 years later", he sparked a humorous exchange with Stoner. The actor responded with " Got me good! Almost convinced me I was straight.", referencing their past on-screen romance. Lautner jokingly replied, "OMFG YOU WIN," as his wife chimed in with "This is so good".
Stoner, who identifies as pansexual and queer, has previously spoken about their experiences playing Sarah Baker in the film.
In a 2018 essay for Teen Vogue, Stoner shared their journey of self-discovery, stating, "I, Alyson, am attracted to men, women, and people who identify in other ways. I can love people of every gender identity and expression... It is the soul that captivates me." Stoner has also been open about facing discrimination in the industry after coming out.
Stoner is set to release their memoir, Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything, on August 12, which promises to offer a candid look at their life as a child actor and their experiences navigating the entertainment industry.
